Iran distinguishing between government, Polish nation: Official

Tehran, Jan 13, IRNA- The director of Friendship Association of Iran and Poland referred to the distinction between the state and the nation of Poland, saying that the view of the people of Poland was not that the country or their government wants to take distance from country and nation of Iran that has been deeply involved for centuries and years. In an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Reza Nikpour pointing out on Sunday the relations between Iran and Poland and went on to say, “The main views of politicians and even ordinary people about the relations between Iran and Poland turn back to the Second World War and the presence of Polish immigrants in Iran, and the hospitality of Iranians that both the Iranian authorities and the Polish authorities are aware of. He made the remarks, 'I did not see the Polish cultural, political or economic delegation that has come to Iran during these years and ignore the hospitality of the Iranians. Even in Warsaw there is a bilingual Persian and Polish memorial in which Iranian people have been commended. Director of the Friendship Association of Iran and Poland, stating that relations between the two countries had a more ancient background than World War II, expressed, 'We must not sacrifice the history of the two nations' relations for immediate and volatile issues and emotions that may resolve several months or several years. In the excavation of archaeology sites in Poland, the coins of the Samanid dynasty period have been found which indicate the economic relations of the two nations since the Hegira second century or the carpets as the common product of Iran and Poland. In other development, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Polish chargé d'affaires Wojciech Unolt to protest over co-hosting an anti-Iran meeting. The managing director of Iranian Foreign Ministry for Eastern Europe conveyed Iran's formal protest to the Polish side for cooperating with the US to hold the anti-Iran meeting on February 13-14. Referring to US hostile measure, the Iranian diplomat said Poland is expected to avoid accompanying US in this case. He warned Poland of taking reciprocal act if the Polish government did not take urgent compensation measures. Meanwhile, the Polish diplomat elaborated on the details of the upcoming meeting. He also underlined the fact that Polish officials' stances are different from Americans'. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo earlier announced holding a meeting with the focus on Iran on February 13-14.
