Iran speaker: 'Dey 9 Epic' a sharp slap to seduction

Tehran, Dec 30, IRNA – Parliament Speaker Ali Larijan said on Sunday that the “Dey 9 Epic,” was a 'sharp slap to seduction and monkeyshines of foreigners'. Millions of people took to the streets in Tehran and several other major cities in 2009 condemning those who were involved in the unrest which was organized by foreign powers in the wake of that year's presidential election which brought to power Iran's former president (Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) for the second term that year. The unrests were later referred to by Ayatollah Khamenei as 'sedition' and the day of the public support for the Islamic establishment was called the '9 Dey Epic' (the epic made by Iranians in the ninth day of the 10th month of the Iranian calendar). Addressing an open session of the Iranian parliament, Larijani said the Iranian nation has managed to replace their determination against the domestic and foreign adventure in this epic. He also congratulated the Iranian nation and parliamentarians on this auspicious event, stressing that the “Dey 9 Epic,” has been remained in the Iranian history and memory because the date highlights the 'power' of nation's presence on the scene, an authority that resolutely removed the challenges and stabled the situation. The Iranian parliament speaker also reiterated that the Islamic Revolution has always been rescued from the internal and external crises during the past 40 years. He said the principle of triumph of the Islamic Revolution and the abolition of the tyranny of the Pahlavi regime have been achieved thanks to the Iranian nation unity and the prudence of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Larijani said during the past 40 years, the Iranian nation has managed to counter the separatist groups, the hypocrites and the adventures of the first post-revolution president, Abolhassan Bani-Sadr, as well as the repeated assassinations conducted by the terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO).
