Iran-Uzbekistan Survey Ways To Expand Sports Co-op

Tashkent, July 14, IRNA – Visiting Head of Iran's Olympics Committee Mohammad Aliabadi in a meeting with his Uzbek counterpart Malek Babayev Friday evening surveyed ways for expansion of cooperation is sports field. During the meeting Aliabadi announced Iran’s readiness for broader sports cooperation in regional and continental fields with his Uzbek counterpart. He emphasized, “These meetings are aimed at evermore expansion of relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Uzbekistan, not only in sports field, but in all possible fields, where we are also ready for making contributions.” The head of Uzbekistan Olympics Committee expressed satisfaction over expansion of sports relations and interactions between Iran and Uzbekistan, praising advancements in Iranian professional and athletic sports, particularly in wrestling and some other fields. Malek Babayev expressed hope that the two countries’ sportsmen and women would just like always put on display the unique individual expertise at London Olympics. The Islamic Republic of Iran and Republic of Uzbekistan exchange over 400 sportsmen and sportswomen annually./end
