Majlis speaker highlights Iran rational approach

Tehran, Sept 1, IRNA – Iran, by striking the 2015 nuclear deal with the world powers, pursued a rational path in order to stop economic pressures on people while at the same time preserving the nuclear knowledge, said the Iranian Parliament speaker. Ali Larijani, addressing a ceremony on Saturday held to mark Iran's healthcare achievements, said what the country faces today is not a classic confrontation with the enemy and it tends to have complications. 'Today Iran is following a path of technological advancement and part of this is the progress in the nuclear sphere,' Larijani said. 'The arguments made by the Islamic Republic of Iran are not inconceivable,' he said. 'Iran has repeatedly announced it does not want to militarize its nuclear program,' he stressed, adding that the country has declared to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) all parts of its nuclear program. 'But those who seized power in the United States killed the international nuclear accord,' Larijani said referring to the withdrawal from the deal by President Donald Trump administration in May. The Iranian Majlis speaker said that after Washington's withdrawal, the European parties of the nuclear deal asked Iran not to abandon the deal, so that they could find a solution and prevent damages to the country. Doubtful about the Europeans ability to do as they said, Larijani said, 'We have asked the European parties for a meeting to see if they could find a solution.' Referring to the possible sanctions on Iran's healthcare sector, he said more attention should be paid to domestic products in medical and healthcare sectors. Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
