Phuket airport to begin using new baggage handling system in April

PHUKET, March 28 (TNA) – Phuket International Airport is set to launch a new inline hold baggage screening system at the beginning of April in a bid to enhance security and improve passenger convenience. Monrudee Gettuphan, general manager of Phuket International Airport, said the airport will switch from terminal screening to inline screening for checked luggage as part of a change in its security measures, starting from the midnight of April 1. The new system will help to improve passenger experience and ease passenger congestion at the airport. Ms Monrudee added that with the use of the in-line screening system, departure passengers can directly reach a check-in service counter and obtain a boarding pass once they arrive at the airport as their hold luggage will be handled via a conveyor system fitted with security screening technology. Phuket International Airport is determined to improving services and elevating its security measures to meet international standards in order to ensure maximum customer satisfaction, she said. (TNA)
