Russian, Cuban Prosecutor General’s Offices sign cooperation programme

HAVANA, December 24. /TASS/. The Russian and Cuban Prosecutor General’s Offices signed a bilateral cooperation programme for 2015-2016 in Havana on Tuesday. The document was signed by Russian and Cuban Prosecutor Generals, Yuri Chaika and Dario Delgado Cura. The programme provides for further implementation of the cooperation agreement signed between the two countries’ prosecution agencies in October 2011 aiming to promote specialist training and exchange of experience. After the signing, Yuri Chaika told journalists that the Cuban prosecution agencies had recently extradited to Russia an extremist dubbed “Tesak” /which can be translated as “hatchet”/, whose case was being considered in court. Apart from that, a delegation from the Cuban Prosecutor General’s Office had undergone a 21-day training course at the Academy of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office, he also said. The Cuban prosecutor general noted that the document signed on Tuesday followed a previous agreement that had proved to be very useful in terms of training specialists of Cuba’s prosecution agencies. “Its goal is to improve the work of both Offices so that they could withstand the existing challenges more efficiently,” he said. The programme of bilateral cooperation between the Russian and Cuban Prosecutor General’s Offices includes a seminar on prosecution agencies’ cooperation with the mass media to enhance legal awareness of citizens and prevent crimes. Apart from that, it is planned to organize a seminar on improving Russia’s and Cuba’s laws on criminal procedure. Read more
