Songkhla steps up preventive measure against dengue fever

SONGKHLA, Nov 20 (TNA) - Songkhla public health officials started an anti-mosquito fumigation campaign to eliminate its breeding grounds after the number of dengue fever patients has increased. Songkhla public health office reported 3,550 dengue fever patients or 252.50 per 100,000 population with eight deaths from Jan 1 – Nov 10, 2016. Most patients were aged between 10-14 years old, followed by the aged group between 5-9 years old. Health officials increase effort to prevent the outbreak in local communities while most patients were found in Hoy Khong district, followed by Chana district and Nathawee district. Dr. Sanpong Ritthiraksa, head of Songkhla public health office also asked local residents to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds around their houses. (TNA)
