Tea Banh views martial law to improve situation in Thailand

MYANMAR, May 20 (TNA) - Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Tea Banh says he believes that Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha's decision on imposing martial law nationwide should help improve the political climate and overall situation in Thailand. General Tea Banh made the comment on Tuesday, when he is attending the 8th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADDM) in Myanmar. General Tea Banh said that many member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in which Thailand is a member, hope to see peace and order restored in the Thai Kingdom. General Tea Banh stressed that nobody wants to see any repeated bloody political unrest in Thailand. Meanwhile, Thailand’s Permanent Secretary for Defence General Nipat Thonglek, who also attended the 8th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting, was reportedly considering to fly back to Bangkok earlier than his previously- scheduled on Tuesday night, at around 10pm, after acknowledging the nationwide enforcement of the martial law as of 3am of May 20, declared by the army commander-in-chief.(TNA)
