Temperature drops in several provinces

CHIANG RAI, Nov 5 (TNA) - Temperature in the North and the Northeast of Thailand started to drop below 20 degrees Celsius, forcing villagers to kindle the fire to keep themselves warm. The cold wave has blanketed Chiang Rai. The temperature on the plain areas was measured at 17.5 degrees Celsius in the provincial seat and 10-13 degrees Celsius on the hills on average. Local authorities have surveyed villages to distribute warm clothes to local residents, affected by the cold weather. In the northern province of Chiang Mai, thick fog covered the road linking Chiang Mai and Doi Saket with low visibility at only 50 meters. However, as Chiang Mai enters winter when tourists normally flock to experience the cold weather on mountains. Both Thai and foreign tourists have been seen enjoying balloon rides to view sunrise and golden paddy fields. (TNA)
