Thai banking systems safe from "WannaCry

BANGKOK, May 16 (TNA) - The Bank of Thailand (BOT) affirms that the country's banking systems are safe from "WannaCry", a ransomware that has threatened the global cyber systems since May 12. Speaking to journalists on May 15, BOT Assistant Governor Siritida Panomwon Na Ayudhya, who oversees the payment systems policy and financial technology group, stressed that BOT has closely monitored the situation and found the Thai banking systems have not been affected by the latest malware. Siritida confirmed that BOT has set up an excellent cyber security, being capable of preventing and screening malwares systematically and effectively. "Once we found any malware, we'll urgently block it and alert all concerned parties, including all banking personnel and even the general public", said the BOT assistant chief. Besides, the Thai central bank has regularly updated its advanced cyber security system to ensure that it always remains in good place. The latest "WannaCry" ransomware has reportedly caused infected cyber systems to become malfunctioned until the attacker got a ransom it claimed from the cyber victims. (TNA)
