Thai PM to officially visit US Oct 2-4

BANGKOK, September 26 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha will pay a three-day official visit to the United States, scheduled for October 2-4, at the invitation of US President Donald Trump. Deputy Government Spokesman Lieutenant General Werachon Sukhondapatipak told journalists of the Thai premier's scheduled visit to the United States on Tuesday, noting that some key Cabinet members will accompany the Thai leader during his next week's US trip, including Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, Interior Minister General Anupong Paochinda, Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn and Deputy Defence Minister General Udomdej Sitabutr. "US President Trump invited the Thai prime minister to pay an official visit to the United States during a phone conversation between the US and the Thai leaders in last April", said the deputy spokesman. According to the deputy spokesman, the US and the Thai leaders are scheduled to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two countries on trade and investment, as well as economic and security issues and strategic partnership for mutual benefits based on the equal and sustainable basis when they meet next week. Besides, the Thai prime minister is scheduled to lead his Cabinet members for a plenary discussion with the US government and and for a dinner reception in honor of the top Thai delegation, jointly hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce and the US-ASEAN Business Council. Meanwhile, the United States and Thailand will organize activities marking the celebration of the 200th anniversary of all-dimension-relations between the two allied nations and their citizens in 2018.
