Thai police track down Red Bull heir

BANGKOK, April 30 (TNA) - Thai police seeks help from the Interpol in tracking down the Red Bull heir "Boss" who failed repeatedly to show up to answer charges with the prosecutors on a fatal car accident case almost five years ago in Bangkok, prompting the Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant on him. The accident occurred on the night of Sep 3, 2012 when a speeding Ferrari driven by Vorabudh Yoovidhya (Boss) crushed into a Thonglor traffic policeman's motorcycle on Sukhumvit road killing him on the spot. He then dragged the policeman a few hundred meters from the accident site before speeding away. Police later traced the motor oil trails to his residence in the nearby rich neighborhood of Bangkok. Voravudh was charged with four accounts, two of which have already exceeded their statute of limitations. He remains charged with careless driving causing death to others and failure to give help to the victims after causing an accident. The former account will expire in Sep 2027 whereas the latter in Sept 3 this year. Voravudh has failed to show up to hear his charges but always sent his lawyer to handle the case. He also made eight deferrals to answer charges with the prosecutors over the past five years, citing his busy schedules and overseas businesses. His latest postponement last Thursday (May 27) prompted the court to grant an arrest warrant against him. National Police Chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda said a request has been made to the Interpol to help track Voravudh's whereabouts. Social media posts revealed that he was residing in his residence in London. Prosecutors are gathering additional information to substantiate the police's request for an extradition. (TNA)
