600 kilograms of opium discovered in Persian Gulf coasts

TEHRAN, Aug. 8 (MNA) - A border police official announced the discovery of more than 600 kilograms of opium at a value of over 4 million dollars in the Persian Gulf coasts near Bandar Lengeh. Colonel Habibollah Mardanpour, in an interview with the Mehr News Agency on Monday, said marine police officers in Bandar Lengeh were informed of a boat carrying the consignment but traffickers immediately left the boat behind and immediately fled the area as they noticed they were under watch. Mardanpour pointed to a separate operation in which border guards confiscated 495 kilograms of hashish and 5 kilograms of opium in the border region of Saravan in Sistan-Baluchestan province.
