Alien Forces Exit From Afghanistan, Only Solution To Crisis:Spokesman

Tehran, May 6, IRNA – Referring to the strategic treaty signed between the USA and Afghanistan, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-parast said that departure of alien forces from the country is the only way for establishment of peace and security there. According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department on Saturday evening, the spokesman added that Iran is concerned about the signed strategic cooperation treaty between US and Afghanistan. Existing ambiguity on future situation of the US military bases in Afghanistan and lack of transparency in the US security duties there are among concerns of Iran and others countries of the region, said the spokesman. Mehman-parast added Iran believes establishment of peace and security in Afghanistan can be possible by full departure of alien forces and closure of military bases and through dialogue among Afghan groups in the framework of Supreme Peace Council. He said signing strategic treaty between Afghanistan and the USA not only does not solve Afghanistan security problems, but, like 10 years ago, will intensify insecurity and instability process in the country. US-Afghanistan Strategic Treaty was signed last Wednesday by President Barak Obama and President Hamid Karzai. The treaty has caused concern in many countries; among them Russia, China, India and Pakistan have expressed their concerns and have declared their positions on the issue to the both countries. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in a press conference in Moscow, last Monday said that although the issue is between the US and Afghanistan, Russia wants to know under what circumstances the US will remain in Afghanistan after the year 2014. He added regional countries should have full information about the strategic treaty, because every event in Afghanistan can affect the whole region./end
