Baghdad talks helped adjust 5+1 group’s stance on Iran: Iranian SNSC secretary

TEHRAN, May 28 (MNA) -- The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) said that the most recent round of talks between Iran and the six major powers helped adjust their stance toward the country’s nuclear program. SNSC Secretary Saeed Jalili led the Iranian delegation in the negotiations between Tehran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany), which were held in Baghdad on May 23 and 24. “Of course, the Baghdad talks had a great effect on the adjustment of the stance of the 5+1,” Jalili told on Sunday. “On the first day of the Baghdad talks, they reneged on the commitments they had made at the (April 14) Istanbul meeting, raised other issues, and ignored their commitments (to) a step-by-step (approach). The group also could not make a decision on the package of proposals that Iran had presented and announced that they had to discuss issues raised by Iran with their countries’ officials,” Jalili said.
