Bushehr Power Plant Has Important Role In Reducing Pollution

Bushehr, Oct 9, IRNA – Head of Bushehr Atomic Power Plant said the plant, in addition to producing cheap and secure electricity, has important role in reducing environmental pollution. Hossein Darakhshande said on Wednesday that the plant has produced 8 billion and 700 million kilowatts hours electricity since it was commissioned four yers ago. He continued that, by producing this amount of nuclear electricity, the plant prevented emmission of 404 million tons of CO2 caused by fossil fuel in gas power plants. Darakhshande said producing electricity in the plant has saved 680 million cubic meters of natural gas, 233 million liters of diesel fuel and 287 million liters of fuel oil. He added that the power plant is in conformity with international standards. Darakhshande stressed that the power plant has constant contacts with universities and research institutes and has held different workshops in this concern. One of the achievements of the Bushehr Atomic Power Plant is to train expert manpower for the complex; in this concern, all personnel pass fiver-year training courses in the educational centers affiliated to the power plant, said the official./end
