Indo-Arab League Donates Rs2.5m To Aid Gaza Victims

New Delhi, Aug 5, IRNA – Indo-Arab League Monday donated Rs 2.5 million as aid for Gaza victims in Hyderabad, capital city of South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Syed Vicaruddin – Chairman, Indo-Arab League Hyderabad presented a cheque of Rs 2.5 million to the Ambassador of Palestine on behalf of Indo-Arab League, as financial aid to purchase clothes, blankets, medicines and essential commodities for the suffering Palestinians in the relief camps in Gaza and assured him of continued cooperation in the future for the cause of Palestine. Presenting the cheque, Vicaruddin said the issue of Palestinian suffering was above the divides of religion, creed and nationality. He said supporting the cause of Palestine is a humanitarian effort that every Indian must exercise and called on them to voice their protest against the killings of young children, innocent men and women by Israel while expressing solidarity with Palestine. He said that a peaceful state of Palestine is a prerogative of its citizens, which Israel is trying to take away, by brutality of its force and illegal occupancy. Vicaruddin said a high-level meeting involving heads of Arab countries, and Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas will also be organized by Indo Arab League Hyderabad later this year. Many Muslims have boycotted Israeli products in Ramadan this year to protest against the warmongers, he added. Speaking on the occasion, the Palestinian Ambassador to India Adli Shaban Hasan Sadeq urged the Indian government to play a bigger role in bringing peace to Palestine, tcn reported. He and Dr Mazim Al-Masoudi, In-charge – League of Arab States Mission requested the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to press the US to coerce Israeli aggressions into inertia while the latter visits the USA to meet President Obama later this year. The conference aimed at conveying the truth about the turbulent situation in Gaza, Palestine and the seemingly endless state of Palestinian suffering due to violence, aggression and hostility exerted by the Israelis, leading to barbaric killings of innocent Palestinian citizens. Dr. Mazim also lauded the efforts of Indian politicos who favourably took up the issue of Palestine in the Parliament. He said that India has, since long, remained a strong supporter of Palestine while expressing hopes to see continued solidarity with the Palestine for the humanitarian cause. The gathering including media men also observed 2-minute silence to offer condolences to nearly 2000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, who were killed by Israeli attacks. The Arab League has been strongly supporting the cause of Palestinian freedom since the first conflicts between Israel and Palestine about 4 decades ago. Meanwhile, another senior official of Palestinian Embassy in India, Saleh Fhied Mohammed in Malappuram, South Indian state of Kerala, said that India has a soft spot for Palestine. Saleh was in Kerala on a brief visit to attend a function organized by the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). Speaking to TOI, minister and spokesperson of the Palestinian embassy said that Indiaˈs stand on Israelˈs attack on Gaza cannot be blamed, since every democracy has its own ways to deal with international crisis. New Delhi has voted for Palestine in Geneva Mohammed said Palestine was not feeling that India had gone back from its earlier stand on the West Asian issue. He said that Palestine was indebted to India for the help extended to all sectors of its development. To a question on Arab nationsˈ response to the turmoil in Gaza, he said a patient cannot attend to other sick people. The Arab region has already been unstable and Middle-East countries such as Iraq, Syria and Egypt were suffering from internal unrest. ˈTheir priority will be to resolve their own issues.ˈ Mohammed said that Gaza had become an open-air prison. ˈA UN report before the latest assault said the strip will be unlivable by 2020, but these attacks may bring that date closer. Gaza has been subjected to repeated massacres, as Israel uses the small strip to test its latest weaponry,ˈ he said. Mohammed said that Israelˈs incessant bombing of civilian areas was wiping out entire families. Israel has declared 20 percent of Gaza off-limits to human habitation and has demolished homes and agricultural fields. Now, Israel has doubled the inhabitable area to 40 percent. ˈWe watch in horror as Israeli forces destroy mosques, schools, hospitals, agricultural areas, industries — and even the only power station in Gaza. Israel might be hoping to devastate us, but Palestinians will rise from ashes,ˈ he said. The continued Israeli aggression, which entered in 28-day on Monday, has claimed lives of nearing 2000 innocent Palestinians, including 398 children, 207 women and 74 elderly people. More than 9000 people have been wounded.
