Iran Deplores US Traps Against Iran Nationals Living Abroad Over Sanctions-related Charges

Tehran, Aug 13, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi on Tuesday deplored US setting traps against Iranian nationals living abroad over sanctions related charges and said that Iran believes in justice system of Malaysia examining the charges against Iranian nationals. He told his weekly press conference that three Iranians have been arrested in Malaysia on sanctions-related charges. The US has requested Malaysia to extradite one of these people and we are certain that this is just a conspiracy, he said. One of these three people was on a visit to Malaysia as a tourist for the first time with the others were studying in Malaysian universities, he said. Araqchi said that Malaysian justice system is currently examining the charges against Iranian nationals adding that Iran believes in sound system of Malaysian judiciary. The investigations will eventually prove that the Iranians detained are innocent. He hoped that the judge in charge of the case will act apolitically. Commenting on a series of terrorist blasts in Iraq, Araqchi said Iran bitterly condemns the unmanly and cold-blood murder of innocent men, women and children by al-Qaeda. The spokesman said that some have targeted the Iraqi national unity and solidarity, calling on Iraqi parties to keep vigilance and exercise self-restraint respecting sanctity of human life./end
