Iran Deputy FM Meets S.African Counterpart

Johannesburg, May 15, IRNA – Iran’s visiting Deputy Foreign Minister in Arab and African Countries Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian here Monday met and conferred with his South African counterpart Ibrahim Ismail. During the meeting both sides discussed bilateral relations, including exchange of political and economic delegations, holding a joint commission on regional developments, as well as key international developments. Referring to regional political developments, Amir-Abdollahian elaborated on Iran’s viewpoints on them and on the western and US pressure against Tehran, and the latest status of the country's peaceful nuclear program in relation with the UN nuclear watchdog and the latest G5+1 negotiation with Iran. Meanwhile, Amir-Abdollahian presented President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s message for the South African President Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma for participating in the Non-Aligned Movement Summit to be held in Tehran in September 2012. The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) is a group of states considering themselves not aligned formally with or against any major power bloc. As of 2011, the movement had 120 members and 17 observer countries./end
