Iran FM: Nuclear Issue Solvable If Other Party Shows Goodwill

Tehran, Sept 17, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif said here on Monday that Irans nuclear issue can be solved if the other party is serious, a reference to lifting the arbitrary sanctions. In a meeting with former Iraqi vice-president Adil Abdul-Mahdi in Tehran, Zarif said the Iranian people showed in recent presidential election to what extent they believe in their power and authority and that they will not give up their rights. He added that nuclear technology and science in Iran is indigenized and On this basis, while emphasizing our legal right, we announce our readiness for settlement of the issue. On Syria crisis and regional situation, Zarif said terrorism has its roots overseas. He said prevention of attack on Syria disappointed supporters of extremism and Takfiris in the region. Stressing, “We do not consider Iran and Iraq separated from each other”, Zarif said Iran is ready to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in political, economic, commercial, and energy areas and further activate economic sectors in order to consolidate stability, security, progress and welfare of the regional people.” Abdul-Mahdi, for his part, congratulated Zarif on his appointment as foreign minister and said that Iranian government has gained great successes under toughest conditions due to its wise leadership. Referring to foreign powers’ efforts to change balance of power in the region and world, especially after triumph of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Abdul-Mahdi said Iran has now turned into a powerful regional and global power and we have always stressed that no plan will be successful in the region without Iran as a key player in the region. “Today Islam has a high status in Iraq,” said the Iraqi official, adding that his country is eager to expand cooperation with Iran./end
