Iran President Felicitates S. Korean Liberation Day

Tehran, Aug 15, IRNA - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad congratulated South Korea's Liberation Day (August 15) in a message to President Lee Myung-bak on Wednesday. According to a report published by the Presidential Office, President Ahmadinejad also felicitated the people and government of South Korea on the occasion, wishing for their further progress and prosperity. August 15 is the day when South Koreans celebrate the country's national liberation from Imperial Japan in 1945. On the same day in 1948, the government of the Republic of Korea was established. President Ahmadinejad also expressed hope that Tehran-Seoul bilateral cooperation would further boost in a way which would serve the interest of both nations and would help establish sustainable peace and justice worldwide./end
