Iran-Saudi Arabia Ties Will Help Extinguish fire Of Shia-Sunni Discord : Lebanon's Berri

Beirut, June 19, IRNA – Following Iran president-elect Hassan Rohaniˈs call for expansion of political ties with Saudi Arabia in his first press conference after his election win, Lebanese Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri said on Tuesday that improved Tehran-Riyadh relations will put out the fire of Shia-Sunni discord. Addressing a press conference, Berri said that on June 14 the Iranians voted for a president and at the same time they voted for the Islamic Republic of Iran. He hailed Rohaniˈs pledges of building better relations with Saudi Arabia and Egypt, calling for necessary measures to be taken in this regard. He expressed hope that Persian Gulf Arab states, the Saudi government in particular, would respond positively to Rohaniˈs remarks./end
