Iran-Syria Children’s Film Week opens

DAMASCUS, Mar. 08 (MNA) – First edition of Iran-Syria Children’s Week has been inaugurated in Damascus’ al-Kindi Hall on Tuesday. Iran’s IRIB, Iran’s office of cultural attaché, and Syrian Cinema Organization are the major partners and organizers of the event. In the opening ceremony, IRIB representative in Damascus, Iran’s charge d'affaires and cultural attaché, head of Syrian Cinema Organization, and a group of interested students and the public attended. Mr. Saeid Ghaffari, IRIB envoy addressed the ceremony about the objectives of the event; “the pivotal end sought during the event is to improve culture of resistance, solidarity, and a view of the future which is promising, as the theme of the event indicates,” he said. Also addressing the ceremony was Mustafa Najarian, Cultural Attaché; “children are the future men and women of the community and they should receive necessary education and acculturation to secure a society which would not easily given to the enemies,” he told the meeting. The event will screen Iranian and Syrian animated works in alternative days. Murad Shahin, head of Syrian Cinema Organization also said that the event sought to inculcate in children resistance against the invading cultures and to prepare them for their adult life where they should act independently of enemies’ propaganda. Syrian children and adolescent will prepare their own understanding of the screened movies of the event in paintings and will compete for prizes to be awarded 3 months later. The closing ceremony will have unveiling of a Statue of Solidarity of Iranian and Syrian Children.
