Islamic Awakening, A Great Opportunity For Palestine : Salehi

Tehran, Sept 9, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Saturday that Islamic Awakening prevailing in the Muslim World is a great opportunity and valuable capacity for Palestine. In a meeting with Hamas senior leader, Mahmoud al-Zahar, Salehi underlined Iran’s principled stance of defending Palestine and noted that following the formation of governments emanating from the public will in the aftermath of Islamic Awakening, the nations and countries’ support for Palestine will further increase until liberation of Holy Qods. Salehi said that the current regional developments will be in the interest of the Palestinian nation. Recalling successful performance of the 16th NAM Summit, Salehi noted that Iran’s concerted efforts during the event to adopt a strong stance regarding Palestine brought about positive results such as the issuance of a statement on Palestine. Al-Zahar, for his part, congratulated Salehi on successful performance of the summit and hoped that NAM will further support the Palestinians’ rights in the international circles under Iran’s presidency. He underlined the Palestinians’ insistence on resistance to continued occupation of Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime and not giving up their rights./end
