Italian Researcher Praises President Rouhani’s WAVE Proposal

Rome, Dec 30, IRNA – Head of Italy’s Supreme Geopolitical Studies Institute Tirprio Gratsia praised Iranian President Hassan Rouhani for his proposal themed ‘World against Violence and Extremism’ (Wave) which has been passed as a UN resolution. “This resolution is a step forward in relations between Iran and the member-states of the United States,” the Italian researcher said. “With UN approval of President Hassan Rouhani’s proposal we have entered a complicated phase because the so-called western system led by the United States beyond its pacifist rhetoric, in its geopolitical attempt prefers to implement the clash of civilizations theory; therefore, (President) Rouhani’s proposal is in fundamental contradiction with the West’s theory,” Gratsia told IRNA. On December 18, the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly voted to approve Rouhani’s WAVE proposal, which calls on all nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism. The Iranian president had made the proposal in his address to the UN Disarmament Conference in New York on September 25. Under the UN resolution adopted in accordance with the WAVE proposal, the General Assembly would urge member states to take “appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace and to achieve international cooperation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character”./end
