Larijani Confers With Senior Clerics In Iraq

Tehran, Nov 28, IRNA – Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani, who is in Iraq heading a parliamentary and Foreign Ministry delegation, conferred with Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad-Saeed Hakim and some other senior clerics in Iraq. According to the report of Majlis News Agency (Nation House), Larijani who is in Iraq upon an invitation of his Iraqi counterpart, told the ayatollah that Iran is trying to settle Syrian problems in a peaceful way, but unfortunately interference of certain countries have created problems for Syrian people. The ayatollah welcomed Larijani and his accompanying delegation and said that achieving peace in Syria depends on holding dialog between domestic sides and that the international statesmen should play an effective role in creation of stability and tranquility in Syria. The Shiite senior cleric said that continuation of violence in Syria causes tension which could spread to other countries and it would do harm to others. He went on to say that the opposite sides in Syria should consider national interests and think about their own people. Ayatollah Hakim underlined necessity of unity among Shiite Muslims for confrontation with plots of Islam enemies and said that religious mottos and Shiite source of authorities are among points of strength in Shia. He called terrorism as a tragedy in Islamic societies and said that everybody knows that a real Muslim moves in line of tranquility and it is everybody's duty to show the real face of Islam to people. Larijani also conferred with Ayatollahs Sistani, Bahrol-ulom, Fayyaz and Bashir Najafi and discussed Islamic world issues with them./end
