Majlis Speaker Calls For More Convergence Among Muslim States

New Delhi, Feb 27, IRNA – Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani, by underlining necessity of more convergence among Muslim states, said that the best capacity exists now in the Islamic world which should be used in the best manner. Larijani, in a meeting here dubbed as ˈExplanation of Islamic awakening natureˈ on Tuesday evening in a gathering of Sunni and Shia scholars and Ulema said that disunity has been the most important problem of Islamic Ulema. The speaker, by referring to the importance of Islamic awakening issue in the Islamic world, said that looking at the contemporary world developments indicates that we are living in a sensitive situation. Larijani said that the first feature of Islamic civilization was Muslim unity at the beginning of Islam, adding that brotherhood was dominant among Muslims. He expressed pleasure with expansion of politico-economic relations between Iran and India which are the two important countries of the region, adding that Islam is deep-rooted in India and Indian scholars have written many books on Islam. In addition to Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, other speakers who also delivered speeches in the meeting were Iranˈs ambassador to India, secretary general of India Islamic Society, prayers leader of New Delhi Fatahpouri Mosque, and Friday Prayers leader of Shia Muslims in New Delhi./end
