Majlis Welcomes Establishment Of Joint Legal Commission With S.Korea Parliament: MP

Tehran, March 5, IRNA – Chairman of Majlis Judicial and Legal Commission Allahyar Malekshahi said that Majlis welcomes setting up of joint legal commission with South Korean parliament to exchange experience in legislation and and judiciary. According to Majlis News and Mass Media Bureau, he said in a meeting with head of South Korean Parliamentˈs Judiciary and Legislative Committee Park Yan Sang that the historical and positive bonds between Iran and South Korea should be taken into account more seriously. Referring to ancient ties between the two countries, he underlined the need to promote bilateral relations, especially parliamentary cooperation. Malekshahi touched on basics of the Islamic Republicˈs legal code, saying that democracy prevails in Iran and each of three branches of government are acting independently within their own authorities enshrined by the Constitution and Majlis as a main and influential legislative body passes laws in support of the people. Sang, for her part, expressed her countryˈs parliament to share experience with Iranˈs Majlis in the fields of legislation and law, saying that South Korean Parliamentˈs Judiciary and Legislative Committee is interested in cooperation with the Iranian parliament. Pointing to similarities of the two countriesˈ parliaments, she stressed the need to utilize the two countriesˈ capabilities to develop economic cooperation, especially parliamentary exchanges./end
