Rafsanjani: Adversaries Afraid Of Shia-Sunni Muslim Solidarity

Tehran, Sept 30, IRNA – Chairman of the Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Sunday that adversaries of Islam afraid of convergence and Shia-Sunni Muslim solidarity. Addressing a group of Sunni Muslim representatives at Majlis, he said unity is the best means of defending Islam to thwart avarice of the adversaries. He praised the active presence of Sunni Muslims to defend territorial integrity during eight years of sacred defense 1980-1988 and that the Sunni Muslims are the border -guards of Iran. People residing at frontier lines account for friendship ambassadors of Iran with the neighboring states, he said. He expressed regret over growth of extremism and religious radicalism in Islamic states and said that such groups dealt a heavy blow to Islam./end
