Russia calls for sustainable intra-Syrian dialogue involving Kurds - Russian top diplomat

BEIJING, April 28. /TASS/. Russia calls to ensure sustainable and direct character of the intra-Syrian dialogue, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday at a ministerial meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA). "At the request of Syria’s legitimate authorities, we send Russian aerospace force units to that country in September 2015 to help it clear its territory of the terrorist occupation," he said. "The tasks are being implemented in a larger part: the Syrian statehood many sought to destroy has been preserved; a smashing blow has been delivered on extremists; conditions have been created for the launch of the process of national reconciliation and this process that revealed who really wants the Syrians to decide their future themselves and who wants to do it for them and is being guided by their own selfish neo-imperialist interests." "Now, it is necessary to ensure sustainable and direct character of the intra-Syrian dialogue, to make it really representative," Lavros stressed. "Thus, we think it absolutely necessary to invite the leaders of the Democratic Union Party to join the talks in Geneva, as it is envisaged by the United Nations Security Council resolutions."
