Russia, China provide succession of political ties, despite changes - envoy

BEIJING, December 12. /TASS/. Russian and Chinese authorities managed to provide full succession of political ties under the conditions of considerable changes and massive personnel reshuffle in the state structures of the two countries, Russian Ambassador to China Andrei Denisov said on Wednesday. "Our countries saw great changes in the expiring year: a new state administration, a new government, was formed in China at a spring session in March and a great number of very important decisions concerning state construction were made. In Russia a presidential election was held this past spring, <…> and a new government - new ministers, new heads of government agencies - was formed later in May," he noted, speaking at a year-end news conference. Denisov highlighted that other changes, which are important both for Russia and China, took place this year - almost complete renewal of the heads of joint intergovernmental commissions on different areas of cooperation at the level of deputy prime ministers. "We have five such commissions - there is nothing of the kind between Russia and other countries, only with China. Despite the fact that their administration had been completely renovated, we managed to fully preserve and secure succession in work," the ambassador stressed. The diplomat reiterated that in December Chinese residents are celebrating the 40th anniversary of Reform and Opening, which, he said, should be regarded as "an important date in the modern political history of China and the whole world." Denisov noted that in the last decade China came a long way, unseen in global history, in progress and socio-economic development, becoming "the main driver of the global economic growth and a leader of international trade." "Our country is celebrating the most important anniversary in our country this year, the 25th anniversary of the Constitution. The adoption of this supreme state act marked the construction of the legal basis for the development of the modern Russian state," he concluded, inviting Chinese and Russian journalists to visit the exhibition of TASS photographers which opened in the embassy and is dedicated to this event.
