Senior Iranian Military Officials Felicitate New Qatari Defense Minister

Tehran, Aug 7, IRNA – Iran's defense minister and Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have sent separate messages of congratulations to new Defense Minister of Qatar Major General Hamad bin Ali Al-Attiyah. Messages of Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi and IRGC Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Jafari were handed over to the Qatari minister during a recent meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Doha Mohammad-Javad Asayesh Zarchi. Iran's Military Attache to Qatar Mashallah Poursheh was also present in the meeting, a statement issued by the IRGC reported. The two sides discussed promotion of Iran-Qatar relations as well as issues of mutual interest during the meeting, it added. Al-Attiyah was recently appointed to the post by new Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani./end
