Soltaniyeh: Agencyˈs Secretariat responsible for ˈGoing Round in Circlesˈ

Vienna, June 6, IRNA – Representative of Iran at International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reacting to Yokia Amanoˈs claim on Iran-IAEA talks ˈGoing in Round Circlesˈ reiterated that IAEA Secretariate is responsible for the matter. According to IRNA, Ali-Asghar Soltaniey made the comment after his address at the Board of Governors Season Session address at a press conference. The Secretary General of the UN nuclear watdog had on the first day of the IAEA Board of Governors Seasonal Session in Vienna claimed that the agencyˈs negotiations with Tehran had been going round in circles for aute a long while. Soltaniyeh referred to Amanoˈs comment in this regard at his press conference, asking, ˈWho is responsible for this situation?ˈ Iranˈs representative at the agency added, ˈThere is not doubt that the agencyˈs Secretariate is responsible; any counry that would be faced with accusations expects to receive the documents based on which it is accused and so long as the agency would keep on sticking to this approach of refraining from offering the copies of the documents based on which they accuse us to us, we too, cannot accept those accusations as authentic. No other country would do so either.ˈ He added, ˈFurthermore, we mus see what the result of this work would be. If we are supposed to cooperate on possible military dimensions (PMD), which is beyond the nulear-NPT and our commitments, we should be ensured that this dossier would be closed aftr it.ˈ Soltaniyeh reiterated, ˈWe cannot permit this process to go on for another ten years.ˈ Iranˈs representative at the agency said, ˈThe talks on the PMD refer to the Additional Protocol, while the matter is quite besides the point.ˈ He pointed out that Iran cannot give the agency a blank check to put forth ever more demands. Regarding providing access to Parchin, too, he said, ˈWe ask for devising a modality, or a clear framework based on which we can work.ˈ Soltaniey reiterated, ˈAs soon as the agency would accept our legitimate and logical stands, then the structural approach would be finalized and Iran would be ready for issuing permit to have access to Parchin in accordance with the modality.ˈ He noted that after ten years of intensive inspections the agency has no document indicating that Iran has deviated from the peaceful path, arguing, ˈOf course a few western countries keep on creating hue and cry and repeat their claims time and again.ˈ Iranˈs representative at the IAEA advised those few western countries to stop their destructive political lectures and to permit Iran and the agency to continue their technical negotiations amid a calm atmosphere./end
