SPEAKER MEETS UNFPA MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Speaker of parliament Z.Enkhbold Thursday received a delegation headed by Mr Subhash K.Gupta, the director for management services at United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The Speaker wished Mr Subhash a nice stay here and said Mongolia is always thankful to him for paying great attention to the reproductive issues. In response, Mr Subhash underlined that Mongolia has taken a special role in the UNFPA and has been one of the leading countries in participating in any projects and programmes. He said the UNFPA thanks the Mongolian government and parliament for working out and implementing important policies focused on population, and expressed a gratitude to our parliament for discussing bills on family violence and to the government for conducting a "Giving birth safely" named survey. UNFPA support and assistance will continue focused on policies, and this will let cooperate with parliament and government longer, he noted. The Speaker thanked the UNFPA’s side for cooperating with the parliamentary Standing committee on social policy, education, culture and science in correlating the data and information about population’s dynamic migration, reproductive health and gender with the policies and programmes. He said a law on family violence will be adopted soon, and force and techniques will be augmented at the police organizations to combat this kind of violence.
