Spokesman Discloses US Great Sedition Against Syria

Beijing, Aug 1, IRNA – Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman, in a gathering of Chinese media persons, disclosed great sedition of the USA and the Zionist regime against Syria. Ramin Mihman-parast in a gathering here on Tuesday evening said that Middle East region and the Persian Gulf have much importance for the US and its allies. He added they do not want to lose the region because of two reasons of huge resources of oil and gas and fear of endangering security of the Zionist regime. Referring to the Islamic awakening and popular movements in the region since two years ago, he said that people are looking for independence and are removing dependent dictators from power. He said that Americans know well if regional countries get independence, security of the Zionist regime will be endangered seriously. Following regime change in Egypt and downfall of the US ally Hosni Mobarak, the US is considering destabilizing Syria to weaken 'resistance line.' So, creating turmoil and tension in Syria by abusing part of Syrian people demands became US and its allies agenda. He asked why the US did not react to popular movements in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Yemen and said this indicated that they are only trying to weaken resistance line and protect the Zionist regime security. The spokesman said that the main US strategy in Syria is to create a civil war and added that when they( US) could not succeed to inflame civil war, they tried to use other countries armed persons to create conflict there. He underlined that Syrian nation and government are now defending their national interests and integrity and added that situation in Syria is now a full-fledged war against an independent state. Ramin Mihman-parast stressed Iran believes in settling the Syrian problem; for this goal, foreign interference and dispatching weapons should be stopped and then in a peaceful atmosphere people demands should be presented and the government should take basic steps toward reforms. In this process, Syrian people are the main decision makers, so, Iran is supporting Kofi Annan's plan. In the gathering, which took about three hours, the spokesman also expounded on US hostile policies toward Iran, including unilateral imposed sanctions.
