Thai envoys to be briefed on government’s policies

BANGKOK, Nov 7 (TNA) -- Thai envoys will attend a three-day meeting at the Foreign Affairs Ministry headquarters in Bangkok next week to listen to the government’s policies, especially on how to promote the country’s economy and induce foreign businessmen to invest in the kingdom. A spokesman of the ministry said Thai Ambassadors and Consul Generals from 95 countries worldwide will attend the meeting, starting next Thursday, under the topic "Diplomatic offensive towards moving Thailand’s economy". Highlights of the meeting will be on Friday when Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha will also attend the meeting and instruct the envoys to support his government’s policies, especially on following the roadmap and national reform aimed at building solidarity, confidence and positive image of the country, said the spokesman. Also, the same day Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak will also discuss and exchange ideas with the envoys on Thailand’s economic strategy and will also stress that the Thailand Team officials in overseas to better understand the Government’s policies and to support Thai business operators to be able to compete in the world market, the spokesman said. Tinnapan Nakata, chairman of the National Reform Steering Assembly, is also scheduled to brief the envoys on the development of the national reform to enable them to inform foreign businessmen, the spokesman said. The Thai diplomats are scheduled to meet and discuss with senior executives of private firms during the meeting. (TNA)
