Ties with African countries growing stronger after Sochi summit - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS/. The Russia-Africa Summit that took place in the Black Sea resort of Sochi in October 2019 gave a boost to Moscow’s relations with African countries, Russian Foreign of goals set at the summit. "Ties with most African countries are growing stronger, including state agencies and businesses. African countries show increasing interest in Russia’s culture, history and education industry," the statement reads. The Foreign Ministry pointed out that "the main short-term goal is to maintain the trend and reinforce Russia’s political and economic position on the African continent, taking into account the positive attitude that African political elites and public have towards Russia." The ministry added that the summit strengthened Russia’s cooperation with African countries. "The meeting particularly considered issues concerning the African aspect of Russia’s foreign policy. The board emphasized that the Russia-Africa Summit and Economic Forum, held in Sochi on October 23-24, 2019, gave a strong impetus to comprehensive Russia-Africa cooperation," the statement said.
