US Concerned About Its Downed Spy Drone

Vienna, Dec 18, IRNA – A Swiss newspaper said the US was worried about its downed spy drone. “Tribune de Genève” said the crash landing of the drone by Iran was a heavy blow to its constructors. It said Iranians are very glad that their electronics experts have managed to land the super-advanced drone belonging to the US. The daily noted that the Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi responded with a mild smile to the US President Barack Obama requesting the return of the US drone, saying that Obama was apparently ignoring the fact that the drone was landed while it was on a spy operation in Iran’s space territory. Quoting Iran’s defense minister, it also said that Iranian officials stress that the drone now belonged to them and they were in charge of making decisions about it. The daily stressed that the incident happened in a critical juncture for Pentagon and the CIA which are the two major bodies making use of the spy drones. It also believed that its landing by the Iranian armed forces proved that the US was carrying spying operations on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Tribune de Genève further noted that the landing of the drone showed that despite claims this type of drone was not invulnerable, stressing that it also indicated the degree of efficiency of Iranian experts. The engineers who made the drone are so worried since they fear that the Iranians may gain access to the technology used for it./end
