Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers crown early world champion

Tehran, IRNA – Before the end of the 2022 World Junior Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships underway in Sofia, Bulgaria, the Iranian representatives secured their championships. The Iranian athletes, who had bagged one gold medal and two silver ones in the first five weight categories and have also three representatives in the final games and two others in the third place games of the second five weight classes, guaranteed their championship before the end of the tournament. In the first five weight categories, Iman Mohammadi won a gold medal in 63kg, with Abolfazl Choopani and Fardin Hedayati winning silver medals in 87- and 130-kg weight classes, respectively. In the second weight classes, Saeed Esmaeili, Alireza Mohammadi, and Ali Abedi are scheduled to compete for gold medals tonight in 60-, 82- and 97-kg weight classes, respectively while Danial Sohrabi and Amir Abdi will also compete for bronze medals in 67- and 72-kg weight classes.
