Iranian team wins four gold medals of German Intˈl Taekwondo Tournament

Tehran, April 14, IRNA – Youssef Karami and Mohammad Bagher Motamed on Sunday won the third and fourth gold medals of the German International Taekwondo Tournament to berth for the 2016 Olympic games. Karami won the gold medal of the -87kg after three consecutive victories over foes from Poland, Kazakhstan, and German, thus finding his way to the finals. In the finals he defeated Canada 5-3 to gain the gold medal. Meanwhile, Bagheri Motamed, the silver medalist of the 2012 Olympics, managed to win over Belgium, Germany, Canada, and Spain to go to the finals. He defeated the Canadian opponent 12-4 and won gold medal in the finals. On the first day of the competitions, Iran, represented by Farzad Abdollahi and Abolfazl Yaghoubi as well as Mehdi Khodabakhshi, gained 2 gold and one silver medals. The G1 Class German International Taekwondo Tournament is under way in Hamburg since Friday in presence of 865 taekwondo athletes from 62 countries. It will wind up this evening. The rank holder taekwondo athletes of the world federation are competing in the tournament to gain more scores to berth for the Brazil 2016 Olympics.
