(LEAD) Samsung Electro-Mechanics' 2009 net up over five-fold

SEOUL, Jan. 14 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., a South Korean
electronics parts maker, said Thursday its 2009 earnings increased more than
five-fold from a year earlier on improved productivity and cost cutting.

Net profit stood at 278.48 billion won (US$248 million) in 2009, compared with a
profit of 48.08 billion won a year ago, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Sales rose 3 percent on year to 3.19 trillion won in the same period, while
operating profit soared 155.8 percent to 215.96 billion won, it said.
In the same day, the company's board decided to pay an annual dividend of 800 won
per share.
Shares of Samsung Electro-Mechanics closed at 96,200 won on the Seoul bourse,
down 0.52 percent from Wednesday's close.
