S. Korea to issue competitiveness report in Nov.

SEOUL, Jan. 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will issue a report that analyzes its own
global competitiveness and that of other countries later this year in order to
help the government craft policies based on the results, officials said Friday.

The report will be unveiled in November, marking the first time that the
government has provided an analysis of the nation's competitiveness, according to
the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.
"It is meaningful in that the report will focus more on our pros and cons
compared with other competing countries (rather than rankings)," a finance
ministry official said. "Rankings of individual countries will be announced but
only a few top ranking nations will be unveiled."
The report will be based on diverse indicators used by foreign institutes such as
the Swiss IMD Business School and the World Economic Forum, which produces global
competitiveness rankings of individual countries.
It will also reflect countries' market structure, the extent of their openness
and business environments, quality of life and productivity, the ministry said.
