Hankook Tire net profit soars 13-fold in 2009
SEOUL, Jan. 15 (Yonhap) -- Hankook Tire Co., South Korea's biggest tiremaker,
said Friday its net profit shot up nearly 13-fold last year, thanks to lower
rubber prices and the Korean currency's weakness.

Hankook earned 350.2 billion won (US$311.5 million) in 2009, compared with 25.4
billion won in 2008, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Operating profit rose 35.9 percent from a year ago to 348.4 billion won last
year, Hankook said. Sales gained 6.3 percent to 2.8 trillion won, it said.
This year, Hankook targets an operating profit of 399.5 billion won and sales of
3.1 trillion won.
