Pfizer's S. Korea unit absorbs Wyeth Korea

SEOUL, Feb. 1 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean units of two U.S. pharmaceutical
companies -- Pfizer Korea Ltd. and Wyeth Korea Inc. -- merged on Monday, Pfizer
Korea said.

South Korea's corporate anti-trust regulator, the Fair Trade Commission, approved
the combined operation Friday after the New York-based Pfizer acquired rival drug
maker Wyeth-Ayerst International Inc., the former parent company of Wyeth Korea,
in October 2009.
