KEPCO narrows net losses in 2009


SEOUL, Feb. 2 (Yonhap) -- Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO), South Korea's
state-run power company, said Tuesday that its net losses in 2009 narrowed from a
year earlier on the local currency's appreciation against the U.S. dollar.

Net loss reached 77.7 billion won (US$67 million) in fiscal 2009, compared with a
net loss of 2.95 trillion won the previous year, the company said in a regulatory
filing.
Revenue rose 6.9 percent on-year to 33.69 trillion won in 2009. Operating loss
stood at 568.7 billion won, compared with an operating loss of 3.66 trillion won
in 2008.
