Gov't posts on-line furnishing guidebook for overseas Korean restaurants

SEOUL, Feb. 10 (Yonhap) -- The government on Wednesday posted an on-line interior
furnishing guidebook for overseas Korean restaurants that it says will help
patrons better experience the taste of Korean food and the country's cultural
ambiance.

The reference material can be accessed at the "Food in Korea" Internet portal
(www.foodinkorea.co.kr) and offers three different options for Korean
restaurants, depending on the type of food served and the size of individual
budgets, the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said.
The manual was created with the help of local architectural experts and designers
and showcases various "standard" blueprints on how best to furnish a Korean
restaurant as well as giving conceptualized photos of how the basic plan will
look.
The farm ministry said that it spent 150 million won (US$129,200) and six months
to draw up the reference material.
"There has been considerable calls from owners on how best to furnish their
restaurants, with the latest on-line guide expected to offer easily accessible
reference material that can be used all over the world," an official said.
Besides offering furnishing tips, the "Food in Korea" site operated by the
state-run Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corp., provides detailed explanations about
Korean food, the correct spelling of dishes, recipes and their history.
