(LEAD) Doosan Infracore suffers wider loss in 2009

SEOUL, Feb. 10 (Yonhap) -- Doosan Infracore Co., South Korea's leading
construction equipment maker, said Wednesday that it suffered a wider loss last
year due to an economic slump.

Net loss amounted 311 billion won (US$269 million) last year, widening from a
loss of 122 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Sales dropped 33 percent to 2.66 trillion won over the cited period, and
operating income sank 35 percent to 225 billion won.
Shares of Doosan Infracore closed at 18,700 won on the Seoul bourse, up 1.36
percent. The business results were released after the market closed.
Doosan Infracore said it expects its sales to increase 21 percent to 3.23
trillion won this year, and operating income to jump 59 percent to 358 billion
won.
During the fourth quarter of last year, Doosan Infracore posted sales of 232
billion won, up 12 percent from the previous quarter, and an operating income of
80.4 billion won, also up 26 percent.
