UNHCR PRAISES YEMENI EFFORTS TO OFFER AID FOR IDPS



AMRAN, Feb. 14 (Saba)- The UNHCR Regional Director for Middle East
and North Africa Nawas Radwan highlighted on Sunday efforts of the
Yemeni government to deal with and offer relief assistance for
Internally Displaced People (IDPs) of Saada province and Harf Sufyan
district of Amran province.

During his meeting with the deputy governor of Amran Saleh Abu Ujah,
the UNHCR official appreciated cooperation exerted by the leadership
of the province to the UNHCR in order to offer its humanitarian
assistance to the IDPs.

He added that the UN agency would push the donor countries to
present aid to Yemen to offer assistance to IDPs while and after
they return to their regions

In cooperation with the leadership of Amran province, the UNHCR
would evaluate current situation of the IDPs, he said.

Abu Ujah reviewed efforts excreted by the Yemeni government and
leadership of the province to deal with relief needs of the IDPs,
calling on the UNHCR for further assistance of food after returning
back IDPs to their regions.

He said that the leadership of the province would offer all kinds of
support to the UNHCR and other international organizations to
facilitate their humanitarian tasks.

He valued aid presented by the UNHCR and other international
organization, wishing further assistance to help IDPs.
