Astana’s birthday – state holiday

Astana, 24 June 2008, Khabar – Dulat Kustavletov, Deputy Minister for Justice of RK:
- The capital city of Kazakhstan is not only successful but it is also one of the largest scale projects in the contemporary world and demonstrates the great potential of our country.

Today, Astana is a symbol of the implementation of those
initiatives announced by our President in terms of the creation of a Kazakh model of
state development and it is also considered to be political, historical and
cultural, scientific and educational as well as a business centre of the Republic.

All the above mentioned gives us good reasons for declaring this day a state
holiday. (Khabar Agency)

From now, the 6th of July will be a special day for the Republic. Kazakhstan’s
Senate has passed the amendment stipulating the declaration of Capital Day as a bank
holiday.

With Kazakhstan now being a full member of the world community, the capital
city has acquired a new status, the senators said. Astana regularly hosts
international conferences, summits, forums and important meetings involving heads of
states and governments.

The capital city of Kazakhstan is also set to stage the
third congress of leaders of world and traditional religions and as well as the OSCE
parliamentary assembly.

The forth-coming holiday is called to symbolise the
achievements of the people of Kazakhstan made during the republic’s period of
independence and the times of the new capital city.
