New strategy for labour relations management

Astana, 24 June 2008, Khabar – Speaking at a government sitting, the Minister for Labour and Social Security, Berdibek Saparbayev has stated that the wages of state employees will have doubled by 2012 whilst unemployment will go down to 7% with the share of qualified staff to become twice as much as it is now.

He also presented to
the members of parliament a new strategy for employment management, labour relations
and social protection and demonstrated an electronic system for calculating pensions
and benefits.

The Ministry for Labour and Social Security is also planning to insert
some amendments to the laws on employment and society, to renew its migration policy
and to introduce an electronic enquiry centre for social protection.

In compliance
with the tasks set by the head of state, the government has already allocated an
additional 30 billion tenge to increase the population’s welfare.

From next month,
the size of a basic pension will reach
4810 tenge with minimum wages to go up to 12025 tenge. People with disabilities
will receive an additional 2928 tenge. In compliance with the Nur Otan Party’s
programme, by 2012 the average pension is expected to grow by 2.5 times compared
with last year.

Kenzhegali Sagadiyev, MP of RK:
- We are preparing some amendments to be inserted into the labour law to strengthen
the order of employing a foreign labour force which is called to make more
favourable conditions for employing Kazakhstan’s workers. I have proposed developing
a special state programme to attract unemployed people and opening special
educational institutions to retrain such people. (Khabar Agency)
